Site SearchFranklinton, N.C. — Phones were ringing Monday at the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. Hundreds of callers were checking on the condition of Sheriff Pat Green after rumors circulated that he had died.
According to the callers, Green suffered a massive heart attack and died late Sunday.
It's just not true. Green is alive and well with no medical problems. He said he doesn't know how the morbid rumor got started.
"(I've) been screening calls all day that I died overnight of a massive heart attack," Green said. "(I've been) getting calls from florists who were getting orders for flowers."
