When Cornelius Jarrod Williams, 26, was pulled over near the intersection of Lantern Lane and Red Springs Road, Hoke County Sheriff's deputies found marijuana and drug paraphernalia on a passenger in the car.

Officers then executed a search warrant on Williams' house and found drug paraphernalia and approximately one gram of suspected crack cocaine.

Williams was charged with:

  • One felony count of possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver cocaine
  • One felony count of possession with intent to manufacture sell and deliver marijuana
  • One felony count of maintaining a vehicle for controlled substance
  • One felony count of maintaining a dwelling/place for controlled substance
  • One misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Williams was in the custody of the Hoke County Jail Monday under a $50,000 secured bond.

The passenger that got caught with the weed more than likely told on the guy diving to get himself out of his predicament

Yep, before long, you get pulled for drinking and driving they are going to search your house as well...

Remember, you broke the law, so its time for them to protect and serve!

sounds like the cops in raeford dont get to do anything very often and they jump when they have a chance. Sounds like illegal search and seizure to me there is no way a small amount of pot on a passenger is reason to search someones home even a so-so lawyer should get this thrown out easily

"how does a car passenger's possessions constitute grounds for a search of drivers home? Not making any statement to crimes/alleged crimes-just wondering how 1 leads to the other unless they live in same place."

There's not enough info in the story to tell. Sounds like a lot of work for one measly gram of crack though.

I agree!!!! LEGALIZE it (well not all) and spend the time and $ on something more obtainable.
