Grandfather Sues Over Boy's Death

e-mail print friendly

The grandfather of a 4-year-old boy who died two years ago in the home of his adoptive parents has filed a wrongful death suit against the couple and state and local officials.

Ron Ford Sr., the administrator of Sean Paddock's estate, is using the lawsuit to wrest some answers from the state Department of Health and Human Services, Wake County Human Services and the Children's Home Society of North Carolina, a private adoption agency.

Paddock suffocated in February 2006 after he was tied too tightly in blankets so he would stay in bed, authorities said.

His adoptive mother, Lynn Paddock, has been charged with murder in the case and is scheduled for trial in May. Prosecutors decided not to press charges against Johnny Paddock, Sean's adoptive father.

Lynn Paddock also has been accused of beating Sean's siblings with PVC pipe.

I really wish I hadn't read this story. What a cute little boy.

"This story is repeatedly being cited (incorrectly) as involving adoptive parents when it is (correctly) foster partents. There is a huge difference. WRAL needs to get this right."

talkinturkey...maybe you need to get the story right instead of blaming WRAL for inaccurately reporting...the Paddock's certainly were Foster Parents, but they had previously ADOPTED Sean and his two siblings. In fact the adoption had been finalized hence why Sean and his siblings last name had been changed to Paddock. Families can be both foster parents as well as adoptive parents.

My husband was taken away from his grandparents by Social Services. They loved him very much, but were too old and too poor to raise him and his two sisters. The grandparents are not to blame where is his biological parents? This women was probably playing the system to "get paid" to keep this children and now she should get what she is due...prison!

Just pray for this family that the answers they are seeking will come.
