An Orange County Board of Education member resigned his seat Monday and was charged Tuesday with embezzlement.

Dennis Whitling has been charged with obtaining property by false pretense, corporate malfeasance and obstruction of justice. The charges stem from the theft of $115,000 from a Durham law firm, police said.

Whitling had served on the Orange County school board for fourr years and had been chairman for the past two years.

Orange County school officials said there are no plans to fill Whitling's seat before the May election.

Completely unbelievable! The Orange County School Board has enough problems already!

Hopefully, they will give him a big check to keep him in the green.

He did the right thing, there is another one that needs to resign.

What a mess he made for Orange County Schools before he went out!!!! Glad he's gone!
