Raleigh, N.C. — A Wake County judge on Monday ruled a woman incapable of standing trial on a murder charge in connection with the shooting death of her ex-husband.
Camellia Boyd Norton Brown, was arrested March 24, 2006, after she allegedly shot Earl Thierry Brown, 42, of Knightdale, in Raleigh's Pullen Park.
She was charged with one count of murder, but Superior Court Judge Leon Stanback ordered Brown to be sent to Dorothea Dix for treatment until she can become competent to stand trial.
Court records show the couple had been fighting for at least two years over the custody of their children. Raleigh police said the children, ages 6 and 8, were nearby when their father was shot.
