Road rage caused a wreck that injured four children in Sampson County Friday afternoon, state troopers said.

A sport-utility vehicle passed a passenger car traveling east on N.C. Highway 24, near Peavine Road, around 3:30 p.m.

That enraged the driver of the car, state Trooper H.G. Lewis said. The car driver rammed and then sideswiped the SUV, causing it to run off the road.

Four children in the SUV were treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital.

One child's injuries were severe enough to require treatment at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, Lewis said. That child is expected to be released from the hospital Tuesday.

A child in the passenger car was uninjured.

Troopers charged the car driver with careless and reckless and aggressive driving. He was cited and released.

The driver's court date is pending while Lewis presents evidence to the Sampson County district attorney to determine if additional charges should be filed. The district attorney will consider if the driver should face child abuse charges.

Authorities withheld the identities of those involved in the accident while the investigation continued.

"The SUV driver was more than likely yapping on the phone, not paying attention, and whatever else morons like that do."

YOU DON'T KNOW THAT - and gossipping and guessing has no value.

Spend some time on something that does.

Praying for ya.

God bless.

"I will ride in whatever lane I see fit"

Even if it breaks a law (if you aren't passing something, you must be in the right hand lane) - go figure.

Praying for you.

God bless.

"I have a feeling they are both at fault if I had to guess."

Uhhh - the one in the passenger car chased down the one in the SUV. That placed the blame on the driver in the passenger car who should just have let things go - especially with a child in his own car.

Praying for the child of this brute.

God bless.

Falling Down was a great movie

You are the cause of road rage. It's that simple. You are the driver that angers the rest of us. Does it make you feel like a big, bad man? Is this how you take out your frustration? You think you own the road? Just move over. Get out of the left lane and let others pass you. It doesn't matter if you think they're going to fast. I'm going to pass you one way or another. Why don't you just move over? If you make me pass you on the right I'm going to cut you off. On purpose. Then, I'm gonna turn my right blinker on and, guess what, move RIGHT!!!
