Durham, N.C. — Durham police are investigating an accident involving an officer who was responding to a break-in in progress Friday evening.
Officer R.K. Shepard had his lights and siren activated when he collided with another vehicle in the same lane of travel on U.S. Highway 70 near Pleasant Drive, the police department said in a news release.
All occupants of both vehicles were transported to area hospitals. Shepard was treated and released. All other injuries were minor, and none were life-threatening, police said.
