Nags Head, N.C. — Drug and assault charges have been dropped against a Franklin County commissioner.
Harry Foy Jr. was charged in Dare County last August with assaulting a female, possessing less than half an ounce of marijuana and possessing drug paraphernalia.
The charges stemmed from an incident aboard Foy's boat in Pamlico Sound. A woman on the boat said Foy assaulted her, and police found marijuana in a suitcase on board when they investigated the assault allegation.
Foy's attorney said the charges were dropped for lack of evidence.
