Raleigh, N.C. — An unidentified assailant stabbed a Raleigh man who was walking to his apartment overnight Friday.

Sean Walsh, 28, was walking to Rhyne's Gate Apartments when man attacked him from behind in the 1100 block of McKimmon View Court, police said.

During a brief struggle, the assailant stabbed Walsh multiple times. He fled the scene before authorities arrived.

Medical crews transported Walsh to WakeMed. He sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Police described the attacker as a black man in his 20s, who might have facial hair. He was wearing all black clothing at the time of the attack.

The attack happened off Gorman Street, near the North Carolina State University campus.
