Winston-Salem, N.C. — A missing Winston-Salem man who was the subject of the Silver Alert returned home unharmed a little before midnight Friday.
Authorities issued a Silver Alert for Charles Mitchell Guffey, 79, shortly after midnight Thursday. Witnesses had last seen Guffey driving away from his house around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Family members told police Guffey came home safely Friday night, but they did not know where he had been for the past day.
Silver Alerts are issued when authorities believe a missing adult suffers from a cognitive impairment.
