A tip to the Fox 50 show NC Wanted led to the arrest of a suspect in a January robbery and shooting, Durham police announced Thursday.

The NC Wanted tip directed police to Canal and Hazel streets, where they arrested Terry Demetrius Lee, 16, of East Club Boulevard, on Thursday afternoon.

Investigators said Lee and Ronald Ambrister, 18, of Wake Place, accosted a 44-year-old man in the 1100 block of Gurley Street on Jan. 20. When the man said he did not have any money, one of the suspects shot him in the thigh.

Lee, also a known gang member, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a dangerous weapon inflicting serious injury.

Ambrister was arrested on the day of the robbery.

Lee's capture marks the 11th arrest related to NC Wanted's ongoing coverage of fugitives and unsolved cases. NC Wanted airs on WRAL's sister station, Fox 50.

Good...another bad one off the streets.

He'll be out running the streets again before we know it. They'll keep getting another chance to live among free men until they finally kill someone. It's time we start locking folks up for they actions. The man he shot could have easily died. Why reward the scum with less time because his victim didn't die.

Good job Fox and Durham PD!
