Bond Reduced, Trial Set in 2005 Slaying

e-mail print friendly

The bond for a man charged in a 2005 slaying has been cut because the man has sat in jail for almost three years awaiting trial.

Charles Everette Hightower is one of three people charged with murder in the July 16, 2005, execution-style slaying of Ralph Joseph in a house on Farthing Street.

His bond was reduced from $500,000 to $200,000, and a judge set a June 23 trial date for the case.

Danny "Cuban" Thomas and Velehia Williams also are charged in Joseph's death.

"I know that the court docket is full but really 3 years."

The article is thin -- we don't know *why* he's been in jail. It could be his own doing, e.g., his lawyer repeatedly asked for postponements. Let's not ding the legal system until we discover who is at fault here.

Hooligan, weed doesn't kill. Spoons don't make people fat.

I know that the court docket is full but really 3 years.

all over a little weed. wheres my people that screams "weed never killed anybody"

Hopefully he won't be able to post the reduced bond. We'd probably read about another alleged execution style murder before he returns to court for this one.
