More Bed Bugs Nibbling in Raleigh

Bed bugs

Raleigh exterminators say they are getting more calls about bed bugs.

Tougher regulations on insecticides and increased overseas travel are being blamed for the growing infestation.

Bed bugs are hard to kill. They can survive temperatures from over 110 degrees Fahrenheit to below freezing. They feed only on blood, but can go a year without eating.

Bed bugs can be found in some of the cleanest bedrooms.

To prevent bed bugs: keep your luggage off the hotel room floor when traveling and examine sheets for red or brown spots left by bugs.

I think all hotels should be required to enclose the mattress and box springs. This should definitely protect the customers.

I guess I will certainly do more checking when I am out of town for sure. But, the people evidently are not washing the bed lines in a proper fashion. Do they need to turn up the heat on the water and do a better job in cleaning?

I have been to a few motels and I usually check the sheets. If I see that the maid has not changed them I will call the front office and usually they will change them in my presence. Most good motels appreciate this.

I'm starting to itch all over. Yuck!

If bed bugs are suspected then the hotels should buy new mattresses. Simple as that. Now if you have to spray insectiside on the mattress to kill them then that would do harm to the patron. Can't even have fun in motels anymore. Dang...what do I do now in motels...can't play on the beds anymore. Times really have changed.

You guys are right. EWWWW!
