Raleigh, N.C. — Raleigh exterminators say they are getting more calls about bed bugs.
Tougher regulations on insecticides and increased overseas travel are being blamed for the growing infestation.
Bed bugs are hard to kill. They can survive temperatures from over 110 degrees Fahrenheit to below freezing. They feed only on blood, but can go a year without eating.
Bed bugs can be found in some of the cleanest bedrooms.
To prevent bed bugs: keep your luggage off the hotel room floor when traveling and examine sheets for red or brown spots left by bugs.

I have been to a few motels and I usually check the sheets. If I see that the maid has not changed them I will call the front office and usually they will change them in my presence. Most good motels appreciate this.
