Detectives on Friday arrested one man and were searching for another wanted for killing of a retired soldier in Fayetteville.

Investigators believe that Francis Geraldo Burgos, 22, of 1604 Diplomat Drive, shot and killed Charles Anderson Miller, 69, of 5818 Holland St., during a home invasion on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008.

Cumberland County detectives said Steven Core Blanks, 22, of 6529 Green Meadow Court, also participated in the robbery and slaying.

Both men were charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy.

Miller, a former Green Beret, was shot to death inside his house just before 2 a.m., authorities said.

Miller's niece, Glenda Williams, described her uncle as a kind-hearted man who owned Miller's Plumbing. He was retired from the Army, where he was in the Special Forces and served in Vietnam, she said. He had four children – three sons and a daughter.

When I see reports from horrified mothers claiming their childs lives aren't worth the items they are stealing...and I see this report about a green beret who dies at the hands of two burgulars...I sit and wonder...whose live is more worth saving? Then I think to myself, "Those mothers should be ashamed of themselves for raising crooks!!!" Nail them to the wall!!!

are we going to march to stop this black on white crime?????? where is the naacp?????

WHY this man?

These guys lived less than 10 miles from Holland, but why did they pick on his house in the middle of the night? The rest of those living within a 10 mile circle want to know why not them?
