Arcola — Warren County deputies on Thursday were investigating an assault that left a Halifax County man in critical condition.
Deputies found Jerry Rudd lying in the woods unconscious with a wound to his head. He was near King Lynch Grocery and was taken to WakeMed.
Authorities charged Randy Lynch with assault with a deadly weapon in the attack. He worked at the grocery store, officials said.
Authorities could not confirm what weapon was used or why the assault happened.
