Fayetteville, N.C. — To crack down on residential and motor vehicle break-ins, Fayetteville police have formed a Burglary Task Force.
Police Chief Tom Bergamine made the new task force a priority after area residents reported 3,594 residential and motor vehicle break-ins last year.
The task force, which began operations this month, has already arrested 46 people on 137 felony charges and 20 misdemeanor charges, officials said.
The police department’s two Special Projects Units and detectives with the Property Crimes Unit make up the new task force. The group also works to prevent break-ins and educate the public with the assistance of the Crime Prevention Specialists and Citizens On Patrol volunteers, officials said.
