Wayne County sheriff's investigators arrested a man on charges of first-degree burglary and first-degree kidnapping, authorities said Monday.

Leanard Deshea Middleton, 24, of 1530 Indian Springs Road in Mount Olive, was the third and last suspect to be arrested in an August 2007 burglary and kidnapping on Old Mount Olive Highway.

Middleton who faces one count of burglary and two counts of kidnapping, was in the Wayne County jail Monday under a $50,000 bond.

The homeowner shot one of the suspects, Antoine”Mook” Chestnut, who died at the scene, authorities said. Two other suspects, James C. Smith and Kayleo L. Middleton, have been arrested and charged for the incident.

The 3 surviving perps should all be charged with first degree murder...

WRAL what is wrong with this comment?

I read about a law in California that roughly states “Individuals involved in criminal activity are responsible for each others fate”. Meaning the other two are responsible for the death of the third perp, not the homeowner. I don’t agree with a lot of things from CA but I like this particular law.

Will these young men ever learn? I belive a few years in prison would help him learn since he wants to continue to do crime instead of getting a job and going to work. Do these young people realize that they can loose their lives breaking into someone home? Its not worth it. Learn some common sense.
