Pine Level, N.C. — Johnston County authorities on Friday were investigating the death of a 7-day-old child.
Residents at 1208 Hinnant Road called 911 Friday morning, and the infant was taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital, where efforts to resuscitate the baby were unsuccessful, authorities said.
The infant’s body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
Investigators said it didn’t appear foul play was involved in the baby's death.
