David Grantham, child sex charges in Cumberland Co.

Fayetteville, N.C. — A Hope Mills man has been charged with sex crimes involving a 7-year-old girl, authorities said Friday.

David Grantham, 55, of 1306 Bill Drive, has been charged with crimes against nature, first-degree rape, taking indecent liberties with a child, incest between near relatives and first-degree statutory sex offense. The charges stem from incidents alleged to have occurred last September, authorities said.

Grantham, a registered sex offender since December 2001, is in the Hyde County Correctional Institute, serving a sentence for violating his probation on an earlier child-sex charge, authorities said.

Why would you let a known sex offender be in the presence of your child? If you are a known sex offender, there was absolutely no reason for that child to be ANYWHERE near that filth. Maybe the parents of this child should be charged also for failure to keep their child from harm from a known sexual deviant. Her parents should be jailed right along side the known pervert because this was preventable.

I beg for 10 minutes with just me, my ball bat and him in a room together. Let's see what kind of pervert he his with somebody his own size and can stand up to him. He should not have been near a child to start with. They should have kept the animal locked up for his first sexual assault on a child.

It is a proven fact that sex offenders cannot be reformed - when will the courts realize this and stop letting them out of jail on "good behavior?" Of course they behave in jail there are no children in there. I would rather pay higher taxes to build more jails than pay what it costs to keep trying these fools for the same crime. Justjean is right, this is something that the victim never conquers. Justjean my thoughts and prays will be with you and others like you. May God Bless.

He is a crime against nature!! She will be scarred for life. I was molested at seven and I still deal with it 39 years later.
