Durham, N.C. — Durham police are investigating a homicide that occurred Friday night on Burke Street in the Lakewood neighborhood.
Investigators believe Dolores Benito Gomez, 48, of Garrett Road, was shot during an armed robbery on Burke Street shortly before 7 p.m.
After the robbery, Gomez got in his vehicle and drove approximately two blocks before crashing in the woods near Shoppers Street and House Avenue, police said.
He was taken to Duke University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police are looking for two men described only as being dressed in black.
