Juvenile Charged in Wal-Mart Fire

e-mail print friendly

A juvenile was arrested Friday and charged with setting fire to a Wal-Mart in Goldsboro, police said.

Two employees were taken to a hospital after a late Tuesday fire in the clothing department of the store at 1002 N. Spence Ave. One employee was treated for smoke inhalation, and the other suffered chest pains.

Customers said they were forced to leave as smoke filled the store, and Wal-Mart officials estimated the damage at $300,000.

A juvenile was charged with felony burning to personal property and was taken to a detention center to await a juvenile court hearing, police said.

Investigators said they believe the fire was set as a distraction so store merchandise could be stolen.

Customer's won't foot bill. Walmart is heavily insured.

Make the punk work at Walmart for a year - in Customer Returns. LOL LOL LOL

Praying for those that were injured.

God bless.

Wal-Mart / their customer will end up footing the bill for this. At least they caught people that would endanger peoples lives with fire to steal a trinket.

Guess the parents will end up footing the bill for this one. Wonder why a juvenile was in WM at that time of evening on a school night...did his parents know where he was??

sound - sorry to say but you are probably right. I actually taught a child who told me he and his mother had gone to WM and he had a "screaming fit" so his mother could steal. Believe it or not, he was one of the "best" kids in class - go figure.

he was trying to make falling prices lol
