Victims Identified in Garner Wreck

e-mail print friendly

Authorities on Wednesday identified two people killed in a fiery wreck near Garner last Friday.

Robert JaQual Ray, 19, of Dunn, and Kevin LeSean Amerson, 18, of Erwin, crashed into a wooded area off Old Stage Road near the Eagle Ridge subdivision late Friday, said Sgt. C.S. Taylor of the state Highway Patrol.

The car caught fire after the crash, which made it difficult to identify the teens, Taylor said.

Speed might have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, he said.

Sad story. This should be another lesson to teens: never drive too fast

I didn't actualy see this accident, but saw the glow of the fire, and was in the traffic backed up behind it. The accident must have just happened, as we fire trucks and an ambulance were just ariving. We turned around and found another way home. Old Stage road is very twisty, and there was a lot of fog that night.

What a shame...too young. My thoughts and prayers go out to their friends and family. Hopefully some of their peers will learn from this...

Yeah I have to believe they were running at a high rate of speed. I have been on that road a few times and you have to take care to control how fast you are driving.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families.
