Chapel Hill, N.C. — The older daughter of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards was rear-ended in downtown Chapel Hill on Friday, police said.
Cate Edwards' car was struck from behind on Rosemary Street at Roberson Street by a car driven by Carol Small. Small, 45, was charged with driving while impaired, police said.
Edwards wasn't injured in the wreck, police said.
The report didn't list a blood alcohol level for Small. She wasn't injured, but was also cited for failing to reduce speed and operating a vehicle in a negligent manner. She was scheduled to make a court appearance Monday.
Edwards' presidential campaign is based in Chapel Hill. Campaign spokesman Eric Schultz described the accident as minor.
