Durham, N.C. — A Durham man was charged Wednesday with murder in a November shooting at an abandoned house on N.C. Highway 98, authorities said.
Reginald Carter, 27, of 505 Elmira St. , was charged with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and two counts of kidnapping. He was already in the Durham County jail on unrelated charges.
Steven L. Mitchell, 38, of 114 S. Woodcrest St., was found dead behind an abandoned house at 3207 Wake Forest Highway on Nov. 6. Authorities said he had been shot in the head.
Deputies found Shawn Hicks in the front yard with a gunshot wound. He was treated at Duke University Hospital and released.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities said further arrests were expected soon.
