2 Face Chatham Drug Charges

Nicholas French

Two Pittsboro men were held on drug charges following a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 64, the Chatham County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

Nicholas French, 21, of 75 Chicken Bridge Road, Pittsboro, was charged with felony possession of cocaine, felony possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and possession of marijuana, deputies said.

They charged Marcus Crump, 20, of 2214 N.C. Highway 902,  Pittsboro, with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Deputies from the sheriff's Interstate Criminal Enforcement team arrested the two men after stopping their car Monday. They searched the car and seized cash, marijuana and cocaine, sheriff's spokesman Maj. Gary Blankenship said.

French was held on a $1,500 secured bond. He was arraigned in Superior Court and his case was continued until Jan. 23, court officials said. Crump was given a citation and released, Blankenship said.
