Chapel Hill, N.C. — Two men were injured early Friday when their car rolled over several times while being pursued by police.

An officer making a routine check of the Eubanks Road Park and Ride Lot, where several vehicles had been broken into recently, saw some people inside a 1992 Mazda and called for assistance, police said. The vehicle roared out of the lot as more patrol cars approached and headed west on Eubanks Road, police said.

Officers later found the car after it had lost control, left the roadway and rolled several times, police said. A handgun and items police suspected were taken in a recent vehicle break-in were located at the scene, police said.

Brian Keith Blackwell, 33, and Maurico Eugene Long, 24, were taken to UNC Hospitals for treatment of injures. There was no word on their conditions. Justin Lee Noell, 18, was treated at the scene.

Warrants have been issued charging Blackwell with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm on town property and possession of stolen goods.

Warrants have been issued charging Long with felony fleeing to elude, speeding, fictitious registration, reckless driving, failing to yield for blue lights and siren, possession of stolen goods, possession of a firearm on town property and resisting arrest.

Noell was charged with possession of a firearm on town property and possession of stolen goods. He was being held in the Orange County Jail on a $100,000 secured bond.
