Wake Schools to Hold Reassignment Meetings

The Wake County Board of Education has scheduled three public hearings on the 2008 reassignment plan.

The board will hold meetings on Jan. 15 at Sanderson High School, on Jan. 17 at Green Hope High School and on Jan. 24 at Middle Creek High School. Each public hearing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m.

School district administrators plan to present a draft reassignment plan to the school board next Tuesday.

People can register online or by calling 919-850-1600 to participate in a public hearing. Online registration ends at midnight the night before the hearing day.

People also can register at the public hearing site between 6 and 7 p.m. The board will hear comments in the order in which people have registered online or by phone prior to those who sign up in person before the hearing.

People will be allowed to speak at no more than one public hearing, and each speaker will be provided three minutes to speak.

The public hearings will provide more public input before a final reassignment plan is voted on by the school board.
