Maxton, N.C. — Robeson County authorities were investigating the discovery of human remains late Tuesday.
Several men found the remains in some woods near Maxton, authorities said.
Authorities said they don't know how long the remains were in the woods or whether they belong to a man or woman.
The remains will be sent to the State Medical Examiner's office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy and possible identification.
