Durham, N.C. — A portion of the road on South Roxboro Street near Charles Street gave way Wednesday morning after a water pipe cracked, officials said.
The broken main washed out the ground underneath the roadway, creating a sinkhole that stretched nearly 30 feet across, officials said.
South Roxboro Street was shut down while crews repaired the damage.
