Elizabethtown — One man died and his friend is facing charges after an overnight wreck in Elizabethtown on Mercer Hill Road.

Troopers say Jonathan Brianne, 20, ran off the left side of the road, then re-entered, ran off the right side and then hit a culvert. He and his passenger, Billy Simmons, 23, were thrown from the car.

Simmons died, and Brianne faces multiple charges, including misdemeanor death by vehicle. Brianne initially told authorities he had a blown tire, which he said caused him to run off the road.

Neither man was wearing a seat belt, officials said.
