Raleigh, N.C. — Dozens rallied in downtown Raleigh Sunday night demanding that all charges against James Johnson be dropped.
He is charged in the 2004 rape and murder of a Wilson teenager. However, another man who is serving life for the crime says Johnson was not involved.
Court records also show no DNA connects Johnson to the crime. He bonded out of jail in September after a special prosecutor was assigned to the case.
Johnson addressed a crowd at First Baptist Church Sunday.
“I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support,” he said. “They have definitely helped me through this ordeal.”
