2 Incidents of Indecent Exposure Reported on Durham Trail

Durham police were investigating two separate incidents in which a man exposed himself to women on the American Tobacco Trail in November.

A female bicyclist told police a man exposed himself to her around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28. He ran after her and grabbed at her twice, but she was able to speed away on her bike.

The man was described as a black male in his late teens or 20s, standing between 5 feet 6 inches to 6 feet tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a gray hoodie, gray camouflage pants and tennis shoes.

On Nov. 10 around 2:35 p.m., two sisters were riding bikes north on American Tobacco Trail when they saw a man standing on the trail near Fayetteville and Pilots streets. When they rode back south, the man asked them for the time and then exposed himself, officers said.

That suspect was described as a black male in his late teens, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans.

Police have not made an arrest in either case.

In October, police arrested a man for exposing himself to a female on American Tobacco Trail near Juliette Street, nearly 3 miles from the Pilot Street. A female pedestrian saw a man standing near the trail exposing himself shortly before 10 a.m. She ran to a nearby construction site and called 911.

Officer D.A. Ferrell caught a man matching the suspect description in nearby woods. Laval Jarquon Leak, 19, of 2519 S. Roxboro St., was charged with indecent exposure.
