Raleigh, N.C. — An Erwin man who had been missing since Saturday afternoon was found dead in Raleigh on Sunday, police said.
Franklin Albert Smith, 65, left Erwin for Lexington around 2 p.m. Saturday. Relatives said he planned to visit his nephew at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill along the way, but police said he never arrived at either destination.
Smith was found dead in his car on the 2400 block of Capital Boulevard in Raleigh on Sunday afternoon, police said.
There was no indication of foul play in his death, police said.
