Raleigh, N.C. — The Highway Patrol said a driver going the wrong way on Interstate 540 caused an early Thursday morning wreck in Wake County.
The accident occurred at around 2:45 a.m. on an eastbound lane of I-540 between Creedmoor and Six Forks roads.
Authorities had to remove both drivers from the vehicles. Both were taken to the hospital. Troopers said alcohol was a factor in the accident.
Crews closed a portion of the roadway to clear the scene of the accident, but it has since reopened to traffic.
