Morrisville, N.C. — Indoor smoking will be prohibited at Raleigh-Durham International Airport beginning next year, officials said Thursday.
Because RDU's terminals and garages are considered government buildings, the Airport Authority voted to follow guidelines set by Wake County to restrict indoor smoking inside public buildings, RDU spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin said.
Designated smoking areas will be established at least 20 feet from doorways, Hamlin said.
The new policy takes effect Jan. 1.
