Battleboro, N.C. — The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a body was found behind an abandoned house on Friday morning.
A caller to the sheriff's office said he was searching for bottles when he saw a body behind the house on Seven Bridges Road, between Battleboro and Whitakers.
Pathologists collected skeletal remains and transported the remains to Pitt Memorial Hospital, officials said.
Experts at the hospital continued to examine the remains to determine the age, race and sex of the deceased on Saturday morning, officials said.
