Raleigh, N.C. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency on Friday awarded the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management a $4 million grant for the state’s floodplain mapping project.
The state will produce digital flood insurance rate maps for counties in the New River basin, including Alleghany, Ashe and Watauga counties, officials said. The money also will be used to bring map modernization projects up to date with data storage and geographic standards, the agency said.
