Peterson Separated From Inmates During Probe

Michael Peterson - A&E American Justice

Convicted killer Michael Peterson has been segregated from other inmates while Nash Correctional Institution officials investigate allegations against him, authorities said.

Peterson, a former author and Durham political candidate, was convicted of killing his wife, Kathleen, in December 2001. He is serving a life sentence.

Prison officials have separated him from other inmates for 15 days during an investigation of allegations inmates made against him, authorities said.

During that time, he is confined to his cell for 23 hours a day, authorities said.
