Teen Charged After Fatal Wreck

A Chapel Hill teen has been charged with felony death by motor vehicle in connection with an accident last week in which another teen was killed, authorities said.

Kelsey Ryann Lunden died last Friday afternoon, about 12 hours after the car she was riding in ran off the road, hit a tree and overturned, authorities said. The wreck occurred on Wabash Road, a private drive located off of Carl Durham Road in southern Orange County, authorities said.

Jordan Marshall Crim, 16, of 6578 Alexandra Drive, was initially charged with driving while impaired, driving with no operator’s license and driving by a person less than 21 years old after consuming alcohol or drugs, authorities said. He was charged Wednesday with felony death by motor vehicle.

In addition, Taylor Owen Doar, 22, of 4200 Mt. Sinai Road, has been charged with two counts of aiding and abetting in the underage purchase of malt beverages. Also, Robin Krebs, 53, of 2403 Carl Durham Road, has been charged with three counts of aiding and abetting possession and consumption of malt beverage and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, abuse and neglect of a juvenile.

Such a shame. The adults who supply alcohol to minors should be accused of homicide as well.

Very sad to see such a young life end. I am sure all parties involved wish they could go back and do that day over again. Unfortunately, you can't.

The death of this child is a tragedy, the fact that the driver and adults that have been charged will get off with a slap on the hand is even worse. At least WRAL has opened this issue back up to comments. When the article was first posted last week as soon as several negative comments were made they closed it. Why was that WRAL?

Too bad that adults supplying alcohol to minors is such a minor crime in NC. If there was really any punishment associated with it, people would not take it so calmly and keep doing it. If helping minors get alcohol was associated with 6 months in jail you would not find adults willing to go out on a limb and do that. But since there is no punishment associated with it no one really cares.

When that one boy who had graduated from Apex HS was killed earlier in the school year, the parents who were at home when their kid was having the party and serving alcohol were not even charged.

What a tragedy - and adults involved also.
