3 Taken to Hospital After I-85 Wreck

print friendly

According to the Highway Patrol, bad weather may have been a factor in an early Thursday morning wreck on Interstate 85 in Orange County.

Investigators said a pickup truck slid off the roadway about a mile from the Durham/Orange County line and hit a tree. Authorities said it was raining at the time of the accident.

Three people were taken to the hospital. There is no word on their conditions.

Why is it that in the Wake / Durham / Orange counties that if you turn on your windshield wipers everyone speeds up. I was coming through there about 9 this morning. Although I don't know what time the accident happened - I was hitting spots of rain going around 540. I wish people would take a minute and 5 mph. off not to cause a situation. I was at a traffic light on 70 before getting on 540 this morning and some guy next to me was reading some kind of file or something although I have seen them trying to read a newspaper and drive at the same time. Its crazy.

Just being thankful there were no fatalities. Praying for a safe departure back on the highway and a speedy recovery. People do need to respect Mother Nature and when the weather isnt the most favorable conditions then just slow down. It saves lives. Maybe even your own. Your destination will be there whether you arrive on time or 5 minutes late. I would rather be there late than arrive someone where else dead.

After living her for over 10 years it's obvious that most people don't realize that you have to slow down when it raining.

I think the main "factor" was someone not slowing down for adverse conditions. But we have to place the blame on something other than ourselves.

Praying for them.

God bless.

Rev. RB
