Jury selection began Tuesday in the murder trial for one of three men charged in a November 2005 stabbing death of a Raleigh woman.

Byron Lamar Waring is on trial for the Nov. 8, 2005, slaying of 22-year-old Lauren Michele Redman outside her apartment on North Walnut Creek Parkway.

Police said Waring and another suspect, Joseph Sanderlin, went to Redman's apartment to collect money she allegedly owed to her former roommate, George Sasser, whom she had kicked out of the apartment.

Sanderlin also is charged with murder in the case, while Sasser is charged with being an accessory after the fact.

Redman was an English major at North Carolina State University, but she had not taken any classes there for more than a year. She was also a graduate of East Wake High School, where she was a standout tennis player.

lovefatgirls, this message is not about color, maybe you should read it again. Another lesson parents teach in life is to be nice to people and treat them with respect. Is that a lesson you learned????????

lovefatgirls - I think a more appropriate piece of advice we all heard from our parents was "stay away from drugs". I don't see where color of skin has anything to do with this. She wasn't in a relationship with anyone that's involved. Please keep the racist comments to a low roar.

What exactly is that suppose to mean? This is not about color.

Parents always taught us kids that you never mix the reds with blues or the greens with the yellows unless your painting ... I guess she never got that advice and now she is gone.
