Larry Jewell in court
Larry Jewell in court

A former Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School assistant principal was indicted Thursday on 24 sex-related charges involving a minor.

Larry Ray Jewell, 57, of 104 Queensbury Drive in Dunn, was arrested in February on 46 sex charges involving a youth who lived in his home.

In March, Raleigh police charged him with a sex-related offense involving a student at Southeast Raleigh High last year.

Jewell, who resigned his position at the school immediately before his arrest, has maintained his innocence, claiming the charges are in retaliation for his effort to evict the accuser from his home.

A Harnett County grand jury is expected to take action on the remaining 22 charges against Jewell next month.

Jewell remains in the Harnett County Detention Center on a $3.25 million bond.

I guess his wife knew nothing about this?? They live in the same household, where is she through out this accussation.

I worked with Dr.Jewell and saw no signs.the only thing i saw him do was try to help.Southeast is a beast of a school to work for. Some of those students are very hard on the teachers, just like working in a correction facility they will blame you for staring at them and you get investigated.if he is so guilty what happened to the other charges and why were they dropped.

What if the wife and kid are telling the truth?

where is nifong when you need him

You can't know who's telling the truthy unless you were personally there. If there is evidence then let it speak for the accused and accuser. Children can fabricate a story just to get what they want just as much as an adult now days. I'm not defending this person by no means but if he's guilty let the courts decide. It's a damaging thing to all involved. This guy will serve time regardless of his guilt or innocence because a child can say or do anything anymore without consequences. I witnessed a friend who was an outstanding teacher and role model have a child say she/he did something and then later told the truth. Needless to say the child had NO consequences for lying but the adult in question could not repair everything the child had done. See both sides before making your final decision as to who's done what.
