Death investigation closes Harnett roads

Lillington, N.C. — A call about a drunken driver eventually led to a death investigation that closed a highway in Lillington in Harnett County Sunday.

Officials with the Harnett County Sheriff's Office said a caller reported a drunken driver on Old Coats Road, initiating a series of events that ended with a man's death at N.C. Highway 210 and Old Coats Road.

Deputies have not said how the man died or released his identity. They said the death did not result from an officer-involved shooting.

The intersection of N.C. 210 and Old Coats Road was closed for several hours.

We get more information from Greg Fishel on the weather than we do this story. WRAL must be letting the high school journalism kids write the stories again.
