A 22-year-old Pope Air Force Base Airman died Friday in a car accident in Raeford, officials said Saturday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 22-year-old Pope Air Force Base Airman died Friday in a car accident in Raeford, officials said Saturday. 

Details of the wreck weren't released, but officials confirmed the death of Senior Airman Jordan Godbout, an aerospace medical service technician.

Gotbout, of Binghamton, NY, was assigned to the 43rd Airlift Group at Pope Field at Fort Bragg.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Senior Airman Godbout's friends and family," Col. Daniel Tulley, commander of the 43rd Airlift Group, said in a statement. "This is a tragic loss for the Air Force and his unit. He will be greatly missed by his 43d Airlift Group family."
