"And DON'T forget either. Sidewalks are for pedestrians, roads for cars......................get it straight. Bartmeister"

Here in North Carolina drivers are just as likely to drive on sidewalks if the fancy strikes them so what is the difference ?

bart, you're just being silly now, and as staunch an advocate i am for cyclists, you've evoked a grin from me.

This sounds eerily similar to the incident where the man died not too long ago. Within a mile or 2.

Anyway, enough of the volley. Bicyclists, bikers, anything without a state issued license that travels considerably less that the flow of motor vehicles around it presents a danger and should be noted as such by the operators of those impeding pylons. If you can't keep up a sustained speed to blend into the traffic pattern, then you need to stay off the road. Bottom line, does it really matter who's right or wrong if you are dead or laid up in a hospital? Done on this subject, peace out.........

"Then take it to a park or somewhere without cars."

Until it's against the law you can keep making this statement until you're blue in the face. The law gives them just as much right to be on the road as your 4 wheeled, gas powered vehicle. While I agree that some bikers don't always follow the same traffic laws as cars and motor cycles, the same goes for the folks driving the cars and motorcycles- they don't always follow the laws of the road. Is it smart for people to ride a bike where the speedlimit is 50+mph? No- I ride and I can tell you I'll avoid any road that the speed limit is over 50 and more than 6 lanes as it is where this guy was struck. I also wear a helmet.
