Raeford child suffers fractured skull, swollen eye, scratches, bruising

print friendly

The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a child abuse case involving a 20-month-old girl who suffered a skull fracture, multiple bumps and knots on her head, scratches on her sides, a swollen left eye and bruising on her face.

The girl arrived at Moore Regional Hospital about 6 p.m. Tuesday with multiple injuries. Her parents "were extremely irate" and not cooperative with social services workers, according to the sheriff's office. By the time detectives arrived, the parents had already left their daughter at the hospital and returned to their Raeford home.

The 20-month-old girl's condition was not released.

Social services workers later took the couple's 9-month-old baby into custody. The parents agreed to let authorities search the home and take photographs and other evidence. The investigation was ongoing, and no other information was released.

all i can say is thank god they got a little bit of a concious and finally took the baby for medical attention

How can people hurt helpless children? I can't for the life of me understand.

lock the parents away. We are foster parents and all we get is teenagers who are already really to far gone, sad to say. Wish we could help kids like this, but the agency doesn't give these

This is disgusting .... !!

This is one reason good foster parents/families are needed. Please consider volunteering if you are a good person. Check it out on www.wakegov.com website. You can google it and it'll tell you about the foster care program. I hope the child and sibling will be okay. There are plenty of people who would help, so don't hit your kid(s), people. Turn to someone for help.
