Two Greenville men were arrested Saturday in connection with the August murder of a Pitt County pastor, police said.

According to police, Tyrell Deltwon Artis, 20, and Shamel Rayvon Brown, 22, shot and killed James Alan Carr on Aug. 20 during an attempted robbery at his home.

Carr, who also served as a van driver for Pitt Community College, was home with his wife, Vickie Carr, when they heard a sound by the back door. James Carr went to investigate and crossed paths with a burglar, who shot him at least once.

Carr was taken to Vidant Medical Center, where he died a few hours later.

Artis and Brown were charged Saturday with one count each of first-degree murder and one count each of first-degree burglary. They were in the Pitt County jail without bond.

Police said Saturday that Artis, who they believe shot Carr, was arrested without incident. Brown was already in jail on unrelated charged at the time of his arrest Saturday, police said.

"Its the who what", I do agree though that there are many in that CWG club you mention and without the gun they would never have the courage to do the things they do.

They are members of the CWG.....Cowards With Guns. Many people, criminals and law abiding citizens alike, are part of this gang. The burgulars probably wet their pants and just shot when Carr confronted them. Most people who try to be big and bad with guns got their lunch money snatched alot when they were in school. No disrespt to those who keep guns on lock and key like they should be. Just talking about those who carry them where ever they go.

"NotUrTypicalAmerican" I understand the job of the defense attorney, I was trying to put emphasis on how the justice system treat victims.

Yes I do have a crystal ball!

Such a tragedy.

For once, I'd like to hear what really goes through the minds of criminals like this as they decide to invade someones home and kill them.

The trial will not be about how the community lost an outstanding citizen, it will focus on how these two had a rough childhood and don't deserve to be punished for their actions. mac240

That's what their defense is supposed to do regardless of how you may disagree with their chosen reasons for defenses. Needless to say, these two guys will never see outside of a jail cell again.
