A Goldsboro man was arrested Friday after authorities said he wrote a bad check for $4,500.

A spokesman from Wayne County Sheriff's Office said Timothy Earl Woodard stole the check from his girlfriend and forged her signature. The amount the check was written for classifies the crime as a felony.

Woodard was held at the Wayne County Detention Center under a $1,000 secured bond.

People get away with it all the time watU. They know the law and that many companies won't pursue the money or charges because it will cost them in time, effort and lawyers. What I've seen done is multiple checks written for just under the felony amount. These misdemeanors can't necessarily be combined to prosecute as a felony. Criminals know this.

What could this guy and people like him think? Do they really think that the bank will not catch on? Do they think the bank will just pay the check out of thin air? I'll bet every one of them thinks they are going to get away with it and then they all meet up in jail!
