Pedestrian killed in Smithfield hit-and-run

Smithfield, N.C. — A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in Smithfield sometime Friday night or early Saturday, police said.

The body was found alongside U.S. Highway 301 South, near Rainbow Lane, Saturday morning. No arrests have been made.

More details, including the person's identity, haven't been released.
