Cumberland County investigators have charged a Fayetteville man with setting fire to his home, authorities said Wednesday.

Jeremy Obrien Mercer, 30, of 427 Starlit Drive, stuffed both toilets in his home with trash, paper and other items before settling them on fire Tuesday evening, authorities said. He then barricaded himself inside the residence by putting furniture against the windows and doors, they said.

Firefighters and deputies were able to extinguish the fire, and Mercer, who was home alone, didn't appear to have any physical injuries, authorities said.

Just when you think you've heard it all.............

sounds like he really has some serious problems...

Maybe he was just trying to burn the stink out of the bath room. You know, the old light a match trick.

Should have let him burn, that's what it appears he wanted to do. No. I have no feelings for a person of this caliber.

Why the toilets? There's water in those silly.
